To open the airways, a signal is required from the brain to the pharyngeal muscles. Then the breathing process will resume, the body is saturated with oxygen, the brain falls asleep again. But this can be repeated many times overnight.

Due to repeated prolonged respiratory arrest, the level of oxygen in the blood decreases. This affects the functioning of the heart and brain, which consume large amounts of oxygen. Hence, headaches occur in the morning.

Every time breathing stops, the body experiences stress. This may cause blood pressure to rise for a short time. As a result, chronic hypertension occurs. Such people are more likely to develop a stroke.

In the presence of hypoxia and the absence of deep sleep, the production of growth hormone in the body decreases, which is responsible for lipid metabolism in an adult.
