The deep-sea mission caught a fish that does not have an eye

It is said that the world ocean is studied worse than space, and in dark depths, where the sunlight does not fall, many creatures have dwell, not yet studied by science. The complexity in their detection is due to the limited capabilities of a person even with the help of modern technical means to study areas under multi-kilometer water due to extremely high pressure. But scientists persistently continue their research by deep-sea vehicles, surprising the world with new finds.

During one of the last deep-water expeditions, organized by a group of researchers from Australia, managed to detect an extremely unusual creature - fish without eyes. The Nakhodka was made at a depth of 4 km in Gulf Jerwis at the East Coast of Australia.

At first it may seem like this fish there is no "face" at all - in photographs are not visible not only to the eyes familiar to all animals, but also the mouth. But in fact, the mouth is located at the bottom of the body - apparently, the fish leads a bottom lifestyle, feeding in various organisms from the seabed. The eyes of the same scientists have not yet been discovered (those two red dots on the head fish are nostrils), but they hope that with more detailed research it will be possible to detect some photo seventors in the head tissues. A complex visual apparatus at such a depth of this fish is simply nothing.

Interestingly, the first information about such a fish appeared in 1873, when the British research vessel "Challenger" caught a deep-water fish with which, according to the records of the expedition participants, was absent. After almost 150 years, when everything forgot about the case, such a fish is caught again, which denies the probability of mutational changes in one individual and confirms the existence of a separate type of similar fish.

This is interesting: In addition to his amazing find, the ship "Challenger" found and the deepest place on the ground located in the Mariana Wpadin. In honor of the ship, this place is called "Abyss Challenger". Read more: "How many people visited the day of the Mariana Vpadina?"

In the meantime, the Australian Expedition continues to examine the deep layers of the ocean, and, according to scientists, they managed to capture several other unknown marine creatures on the camera.
