In September this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Spark-Renault joint team unveiled their version of the SRT-01E electric racing car. And the other day this Formula E car, as part of testing before the 2014 season, was taken to the track located east of Paris.
In testing, a 50 kW electric motor was installed on the car, instead of the 200 kW (270 horsepower) that will be used during the race. Over the course of two days, Formula 1 rider, Lucas di Grassi, completed 40 laps on the La Ferte Gaucher track, which allowed a preliminary check of all systems.
“As planned, we tested all electrical and electronic systems without any problems, ” says Pierre Calippe of Renault Sport Technologies. “The new strategy is already working well enough and the battery can handle the load quite well. Of course, we still have a lot of work to do, but so far the results are very good. The whole team is working together to achieve the best results, and I think now we can say that the car will perform well. "
The Spark-Renault SRT-01E will debut in Formula E in September next year, when the car will compete against 19 other teams.
