Michael Calor: When we all first started working remotely all the time in 2020, I brought home all my tech stuff. I brought home my monitor, my mechanical keyboard, my nice mouse. I brought all these things into my home and found a way to set them up that worked for me. And so going back to the office was painful because when you show up at the office, you don’t have the technique set up that you’re used to. And I’m sure everyone who’s back in the office feels that way. Now I have two mechanical keyboards, I have two monitors, I have two pairs of headphones.
Lauren Good: You are here in the office almost every day.
Michael Calor: Yes, I’m here three or four days a week. And that’s another thing, the fact that my home can be noisy or chaotic. I shared a workplace with my wife. She makes YouTube videos and needs quiet, so I can either work in the closet or go into the office, so I choose to go into the office. I have no children, I have no other obligations. And I should also note that I travel light. For me, the friction is greatly reduced, but I work alongside people who have an hour and a half commute and need to get home early because of childcare. And for them it is very, very difficult.
Lauren Good: And Zoe, you’ve been away for a while. You live on the central coast of California.
Zoe Schiffer: yes Central Coast.
Lauren Good: Is that what it’s called?
Zoe Schiffer: how dare you
Lauren Good: Is it called the Central Coast?
Zoe Schiffer: Southern California.
Lauren Good: Is it SoCal?
Zoe Schiffer: Well, it depends. If you look at a map or if you talk to someone in Santa Barbara, but-
Lauren Good: Zoe’s neighbor is Oprah in Montecito. This is what you need to know.
Zoe Schiffer: yes We are best friends. And our houses are the same size. Thank you for asking. Yeah, I don’t really like working from home. And that might just be because I do, and have done for years, and I find it quite painful. But at the same time, I don’t think I would be willing to sacrifice the time with my kids that I would have to if I had the commute that I had in San Francisco, which was an hour each way to and from an office. Lauren, what about you? How do you feel about remote work?
